Zombies Turn 5K Into Horrifying Jog
Are you ready for the zombie apocalypse? Anyone looking for a bit of practice can get their chance at the upcoming Run For Your Lives marathon in Baltimore. Runners must complete the course with all of their "lives." Those "lives" come in the form of flags attached to the runners' belts, flag football style. According to the race's website, "The zombies want to take your flags and maybe eat your brains." Volunteer zombies will chase runners, but will not be allowed to physically contact them. Runners will also not allowed to touch the zombies, meaning fancy footwork will be their only defense. Beyond a simple game of cat and mouse -- or human and zombie -- the course includes 12 obstacles including tubes through which participants must crawl and a fence to climb at the finish line. Runners can skip those obstacles, but they'll lose out on prizes. Prizes will be awarded to runners who complete all the obstacles and cross the finish line with at least one life flag. All runners will also receive a medal signifying their survival or transformation into a zombie. For runners and zombie fans outside the Baltimore area, the organization behind the race promises more locations in the future.Flag Football Flags - News
