HTC: Droid Incredible 'not on the list' for Gingerbread upgrade
Our goal is to give every customer the best possible experience on every phone. Every HTC phone is a combination of a unique HTC hardware and software experience and a core operating system. We only update our phones if it will provide an overall improved user experience as we balance features, performance and usability. Because of this, we will only be updating certain phones to Gingerbread. At this time, the Droid Incredible is not on that list.

Here's the curious thing: Past emails attributed to HTC support reps indicated that the Incredible was in line for a 2.3 upgrade, supposedly sometime within the second quarter. On top of that, in May tipsters told Engadget that an upgrade was scheduled to hit the phonepass in "late June." Obviously, those deadlines have come and gone -- but the fact that we were seeing signs of progress makes the notion of a sudden no-go all the more perplexing.
Bear in mind, as evidenced by those past emails, that customer support reps don't always have the most reliable info; this situation aside, we've seen plenty of cases where reps have provided information that's later proven to be wrong. This new twist certainly isn't encouraging, but I wouldn't write it off as a definite denial just yet.
