Cheers & Jeers for Thursday, Aug. 11

Cheers to two employees of Fayetteville Technical Community College, Mary Ray from Admissions and Lynne Carver in Counseling Services. Both ladies were a positive display of customer service with assisting my daughter in getting registered for classes.

Mary Ray went out of her way on several occasions to assist my daughter, even when it did not specifically pertain to her area of work. Without her assistance, I am afraid my daughter might have gotten very discouraged. When she sat down for her counseling appointment to declare her program of study, Ms. Carver made that experience so enjoyable and was like a breath of fresh air on an otherwise very stressful day. FTCC should be very proud to have both of these ladies on staff.

Cheers and thank you to the staff of Dr. John Richard Jones of Fayetteville Gastrology for the care I was given during my colonoscopy on July 25. The nurses were outstanding.

And a special shout-out to Bruce, the anesthesiologist, who helped to calm my nerves.

Cheers to Dr. John Whitley and his assistant Susanna Girocco at the Cape Fear Neurosurgery Department.

I had been experiencing excruciating sciatic pain for two years, and nothing worked to relieve the pain. Dr. Whitley came highly recommended by my primary doctor, and an appointment was set up for me to meet him.

Immediately, Dr. Whitley put me at ease and talked to me about a 45-minute surgery that would work for me and guaranteed my quality of life would vastly improve from what I was dealing with. I had the surgery and have been pain free for three months.

Paralegal Programs Online: ABA-accredited Paralegal College ...

The American Bar Association (ABA), which is the independent association responsible for granting accreditation to the best legal schools in the United States, has accredited a number of top paralegal programs online.

This article reviews some of the best paralegal college and paralegal university programs, and provides additional listings of ABA-accredited education paralegal programs in many states.

UC Irvine offers a paralegal college certificate which is ABA-accredited. According to UC Irvine, this paralegal university program offers the following benefits:

Students are required to complete 30 units of instruction (300 hours) and finish courses with a C average or better. In addition, students are required to complete the program within five years after enrolling in the first course.

Inver Hills Community College offers an ABA-accredited paralegal college associate's degree program which combines fully online classes with hybrid offerings. While this program is mainly online, it does have minimal in-class requirements which make it a partial online program.

Courses are not self-paced, but rather must be completed according to the established academic calendar. While students can complete most of their learning via a flexible online format, hybrid courses require that students attend class on-campus (in Minneapolis) approximately every other week. This obviously limits the geographic range for students looking for a fully online paralegal degree.

MTI offers an ABA-accredited partial online paralegal degree program in which students who have already earned a degree can train to become professional paralegals in a limited amount of time.
