good price on SR1911?
So it's my birthday month. So my local shop sends out a letter filled with various coupons. So the latest Rifleman has a bit about Ruger trying to sell a million new guns this year - a record for them - and if they do they will send NRA a check for a million dollars. So the same issue has a nice write-up on the SR1911, priced at $700. So I go to the shop, wondering if they have one. None to sell, but several in the back that had been ordered. So, what's the price I say. $620. I checked Bud's and they don't show them yet. What do you guys think about the price? It seems pretty good to me. The gun is very much standard 1911 A1, but with a nicely checkered section on the grip safety that is not nearly so annoying as the memory pad brand K seems to like so well. Not fancy, just a good solid 1911 by a company with a great reputation. i haven't shot one yet, but Ruger never builds anything half arsed! since it's way on the low end for semi-factory custom (beavertail, nice trigger, lo-pro Novak styled sights, lots of nice checkering, extended safety.........) i'd be more then willing to take a chance at that price, i think that's cheaper then the Taurus! hears the first review i read on one, i'm partial to Mike Boyles input, the man is one heck of a defensive shooting instructor...............
