8 injured in 4 car crash
NEW BUFFALO TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) - A total of 8 people were hurt when 4 vehicles were involved in a crash in Berrien County.
The crash happened just after 6 p.m. Sunday night in New Buffalo Township.
Rochelle Medow, 66, of Union Pier, MI, told police that she was driving north on Red Arrow Highway near Lakeshore Drive and slowed to stop for a car that was turning left in front of her.
Michael Gertner, 65, of Michiana, MI, was driving behind Medow, he was not able to stop and hit the rear corner of her vehicle. That caused him to cross the centerline and into southbound traffic.
Gertner was then hit head on by a vehicle driven by Luke Webber, 30, of McCordsville, IN.
That collision caused Webber's vehicle to roll over several times.
Gertner's vehicle was hit one final time by Dana Voyta, 50 also of Union Pier, MI, she was driving northbound on Red Arrow Highway behind Gertner and was not able to avoid hitting his vehicle.
In all 8 people were injured, 2 were treated on the scene, 6 were brought to St. Anthony's Hospital in Michigan City, IN for serious injures.
The crash closed down Red Arrow Highway for several hours.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash.
The crash remains under investigation by the Berrien County Sheriffs Department.

So I know at least one of you is a consistent reader because you actually missed me last week. Ha! No I wasn't boycotting blogging . Yes, we went on VACATION! Well if "vacation" means "exhausting week of chasing 3 children around a place that is definitely not childproof while also not following a routine nor normal sleeping arrangements (which was interrupted every couple of hours by a TRAIN that literally sounded like it was coming through the walls it was so close and then thunderstorms between the trains) in order to In all seriousness, we actually had a great time. The best part of all was that the drive was only 6 hours. Including potty breaks. Including a lunch stop. Including an ice cream break. SIX HOURS door to door. Pure Michigan . Freaking fantastic Michigan! We headed to Union Pier this year due to a recommendation from a close friend. And we are happy we did. We made it home today and now I'm unpacking, etc.
