Man charged with OUI after allegedly injuring woman in golf cart spinout

BROWNVILLE, Maine — A Canaan man doing spinouts on a golf cart at a musical outing in Brownville on Saturday injured a local woman and was charged with operating under the influence, police said Tuesday.

Michael Salisbury, 60, had driven his golf cart to a neighbor’s home on Spencer Farm Road, where a musical outing was being held on a deck, according to Brownville Police Chief Nick Clukey.

While there, Salisbury started doing spinouts on the golf cart and struck a woman who was standing near the deck. The impact pushed her beneath the deck, leaving her with cuts and bruises, Clukey said. She was taken by ambulance to Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, where she was treated for her injuries and later released.

After the incident, Salisbury returned to his camper down the road and police found him passed out in front of it, according to Clukey. He was arrested for operating an all-terrain vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants and failure to report an ATV accident. Bail was set at $300.
