Hello, everyone, and welcome once again to the internets movie review column that has never been attacked by a gang of mutant squirrels, The Gratuitous B-Movie Column, and I am your host Bryan Kristopowitz. In this issue, issue number one hundred and sixty-eight, I take a look at the British action revenge drama from 2009, Harry Brown , starring the great Michael Caine. Harry Brown , directed by Daniel Barber (with a screenplay by Gary Young), is essentially a sort of modern "art house" remake of Chuck Bronson's Death Wish movies with a heavy emphasis on the classic Death Wish 3 . Caine stars as the Harry Brown of the title, a retired Royal Marine/old age "pensioner" who lives a quiet life in a "housing estate" that, I assume, is similar to what Americans call public housing/"the projects" (that's what it looks like to me, anyway). When he isn't visiting his dying wife Kath (Liz Daniels) in the hospital he's hanging out a local pub playing chess with his old friend Leonard (David Bradley). Brown also seems to walk everywhere, except one little tunnel that always seems to be occupied by young hoodlums who appear to be dealing drugs (when they're not beating the crap out of random people, that is). Brown doesn't want to bother anyone, and he doesn't want trouble. Harry Brown just wants to live his quiet life. So, as is often the case in movies of the Death Wish kind, incredibly bad stuff starts happening to Harry Brown. His wife dies in the hospital and he doesn't get a chance to see her one last time to say goodbye (Brown gets a late night call from the hospital telling him to come quick, Kath doesn't have much time left. He walks as fast as he can to the hospital. He would have saved some time had he gone down the tunnel he never goes down, but those damn hoodlums were there, like always, so he had to go the long way instead). And then his buddy Leonard gets killed by a bunch of hoodlums (Leonard told Brown about how he's scared of the young people on the street.

And while she isn't in the movie all that long Liz Daniels does a good job as Harry's wife Kath. I wonder if she would have approved of her husband's revenge actions. I mean, she did make Harry put his Royal Marine "stuff" away, right?

Chad Watts ,back .Probably meaningless, but am posting for Watts,Campbell, not WC Engine co.Last job was in'07 Otherwise almost all is intact within the building The office records are now with THE HENRY FORD.The building is under contract by a person in the environmental/demolition business and his intent is to"'recondition" the building for his own business. This means that all contents have to be removed. Years ago we deemed the building unsuitable for a museum Backed up by Robert Vogel, retired curator of heavy industrial machinery at the Smithsonian.Inst. (Hope that title is accurate) His words were that no one would come to a museum in Newark N.J. and that the building needed extensive repairs,no parking site available, would need bathrooms for male and female ,no wheel- chair access. no elevator etc. I agree with him although the blrg. does have a lot to offer both historically and from archectural viewpoint, Tha bldg., is on both State and Federal lists as an Historical site I want to make it clear that buying the property back is not IMPOSSIBLE, but I personally have other hopes. Currently tours are possible Mike Piersa has one scheduled for June 25 Interested? piersa@pfd.net If one sees our video by VIMEO you can see some older photos of shop Since then we salvaged and stored some tools and equipment from our closed heat exchanger division, new owner has moved lots of his equipment in and tons of tools, fixtures, patterns, ,machined & unmachined valve parts gages and "WHATEVER" were moved from second floor into barrels, crates etc to first floor thus creating a very congested site. I wonder why anyone would visit such a mess ! ( from one who has spent over sixty years there) As said----- we have to move ( influenced by personal desires,I admit) I want to see a museum of almost "EVERYTHING" erected in a nice atmosphere, environmentally pleasant where visitors will have an enjoyable time away from their normal surroundings. When I say everything I mean just that because there are so many items that directly connect to individual machines or are used in the operation of a machine shop:such as gages tools and tooling. handling equipment for cranes hoists well everything.
