Candidate for Governor Williams Visits iSurf

HOPKINS COUNTY, KY (8/9/11) – On Monday, August 8, iSurf News was granted an exclusive interview with David Williams, Candidate for the Office of Governor in the upcoming Elections.

iSurf News reporters approached Senator Williams from two perspectives so that our readers might get to know this Candidate from both a personal and a political point of view. We will be doing two articles over the next couple of days, one from each aspect. Today we will be covering the personal details of Senator Williams. “I had a high school teacher that loved quotes,” Williams replied. “At her funeral her daughter gave me a quote book that my teacher had left for me. One of her favorite quotes was, ‘the service to others is the rent we pay for the space we occupy on earth.’ My motivation is to work hard to make sure my life makes a difference in the lives of others. When asked if he believed, in reference to the aforementioned quote, that he had paid his “rent,” Williams said, “I think I’ve had a lot of positive effects on others. I’ve made my mistakes. In my life I have no motivation of enrichment, and having money is not a goal of mine. I’ve always had a comfortable life and am very appreciative of that. I had a good upbringing and was fortunate enough to have a good mom and dad. I feel very positive and very blessed.” “I’m a Christian,” Williams said. “I try to treat people appropriately, truthful and fair. I let people know where I stand in my principles so they will understand the perimeters. I am painfully forthright on what I believe. I don’t believe that you will find anyone in Frankfort that will tell you that I’ve been untruthful. As a public official, your word is your bond.” I’m a history buff. I watch a lot of history channel, watch odd sort of things on television. I like anything having to do with World War II. I’m a civil war buff. I continue to be fascinated by Thomas Jefferson, Madison, Lincoln, Robert E. Lee, great figures in history. I like any historical biographies. I like to see historical perspectives. “ “My interest in antiques comes from being raised in the country, going to auctions, and trading as a kid. My most treasured antique is a wardrobe given to my great grandmother upon her marriage as a wedding gift. It’s an old piece. Stands tall, served as a closet. Also I have some shotguns, the first 4-10 my dad gave me when we used to hunt together. “By Definition, you have to deal with what difficult people are,” said Williams. “When I practiced law, I dealt with difficult people. You council them, work with them, sit down with them. If you have issues with people with strong opinions, you try to reach consensus. If you’re in negotiations, you try to stay calm and reach the ultimate goal, live up to the principles you believe in. You have to reach some conclusion. I deal with difficult people by trying to find out what their beliefs are, if they are truthful and sincere, and if they have an ulterior motive, and then I find common ground.” iSurfHopkins is an eNewspaper providing local news FREE to Hopkins County Kentucky 24/7.  Read Breaking News, Sports, Churches, Business, Obituary Notices, and School News in Hopkins County Kentucky covering:  Madisonville, Hanson, Earlington, Slaughters, Mortons Gap, Nebo, Nortonville, White Plains, and Dawson Springs KY.  Google ranks us One in Local News and we WILL PUBLISH  local news sent that is family-friendly in content that can be edited as needed.   iSurf local eNewspaper content is archived and can be printed or emailed for personal use but requires consent and/or proper source credit otherwise.  Send Your Local News to: News@iSurfNews.com .

‘S August 15th  Bachmann profile by Ryan Lizza , the presidential candidate proves herself to be way more intellectual than Sarah Palin.

Bachmann once served on the board of  directors of Summit Ministries–an educational organization founded to reverse the harmful effects of  “our current post-Christian culture.” Bachmann lauds David A. Noebel is the author of the revelatory tracts as “The Homosexual Revolution: End Time Abomination,” and “Communism, Hypnotism, and the Beatles.” Bachmann has called Summit’s message

Slavery, as it operated in the pervasively Christian society which was the old South, was not an adversarial relationship founded upon racial animosity. In fact, it bred on the whole, not contempt, but, over time, mutual respect. This produced a mutual esteem of the sort that always results when men give themselves to a common cause. The credit for this startling reality must go to the Christian faith. . . . The unity and companionship that existed between the races in the South prior to the war was the fruit of a common faith.

In episode 6 Schaeffer explores the possibility that at some point the government might start controlling the populace through drugs in the water supply, much like hippies wanted to drop LSD in the reservoirs, illustrated by a man in a white van dumping chemicals into the sewer. But Schaeffer points out, with Christianity and accepting the Bible as an absolute, mankind can be saved from the moral vicissitudes of science.

This spring Bachmann told a crowd in Iowa that she and Marcus read How Should We Then Live?:

I saw Wacky-Bachy on Fox last night. She has had a slight make-over, looks a little tanner, make-up is slightly hipper, hait lighter and not as severe, and she make have had some filler or a light peel. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. And I would say the same about any of the male candidates.

And as a friend said, “They are using the Hubble telescope for a camera.” (far back shot)
