Incident reports for St. Charles County

The following information is from selected reports provided by the St. Charles County Sheriff's Department:

Only pizza delivery guaranteed, arrests are extra

Deputies were called to a residence in the 900 block of San Miguel July 3 after they received a 911 call from a woman reporting someone charged four take-out pizzas to her account after she reportedly only purchased one. Arriving at the address she provided, deputies talked to the man living there. He said he did not know the woman who made the call nor did he order any pizza.

About the same time, the deputies noticed a pizza delivery vehicle pull up in front of another apartment where a woman was sitting out front and yelling obscenities at the driver. The driver said the woman was upset that her delivery had taken too long.

The deputies now turned their attention to the woman, who was observed to be highly intoxicated, and asked if she was the person who called 911. She denied the accusation until one deputy said he was going to ask the dispatcher to ring back the phone number received on the 911 call. At that point, the woman leaped from her chair and attempted to throw her cell phone inside the house. She never made it through the front door, though, because she stumbled as she left the chair. As officers attempted to subdue her, she allegedly fought back, striking one of the deputies. The 25-year-old woman was arrested for misusing the 911 system, assault on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. The pizza was left at the scene. [Map highlight 6]

Felony theft

A couple returning June 29 from a cruise that started in Florida reported the theft of two high-end pieces of jewelry. They reported a man's designer watch valued at $17,900 and a pair of ladies' white gold diamond earrings were taken on the trip, but at the last minute were put into a pair of the man's shoes inside the luggage. The couple were selected for extra screening by the cruise line, and during the searches, the jewelry was still there. The shoes were also never worn. Only after they returned to their home in the 300 block of Callahan Road did the couple discover the jewelry was missing. [Map highlight 2]

Apparently only unprotected laptops were wanted

The owner of a locked Volkswagen Passat reported June 30 that someone entered the car while it was parked in the 300 block of Clarkson Park Drive and stole a laptop from its carrying case that was in the back seat. After discovering the theft, the owner found the computer in his front yard under an operating sprinkler. Damage was placed at $2,000. He surmised that once thieves stole the laptop and learned it was password protected, they opted for destruction rather than thievery. Also taken from the car were a GPS valued at $200 and a pair of sunglasses also valued at $200.
